12 issues, 8 in folded A5 format and 4 in A4. 1200 units sold nationally and internationally per issue.
Two fans, David Smith & Oliver Cain, decided to start a fanzine to cater for a new era of fans brought into the fold by the release of True Faith. Other fanzines seemed to cater for fans more in tune with Joy Division and the pre Low-life material.
Support came from Peter Hook who provided information and kept in touch, writing letters regularly throughout the life of the fanzine. Promotional photos were kindly made available by Factory Communications Ltd in Didsbury. A local graphic designer and mutual friend, Jonathon Scott, provided artwork and typography.
The look of the fanzine was deemed as important as the content. Issue 3 was published with a regular long sleeve and a limited clear sleeve with a run of 50. An exclusive colour sleeve was designed for issue 6 with a limited run of 100. The standard sleeve was white with a dotted collage effect using a portrait of Ian Curtis.
The fanzine regularly featured readers letters and numerous fans provided gig reviews, news and personal photos.
In December 1990 David was interviewed by Sounds magazine for a feature called 'The New Order Files'. It identified the difference between the fans of Joy Division and New Order.
The advent of the internet age meant that there was no longer a demand for the printed word. Information, photos and media were now available at the click of a button.
Cerysmatic Factory contacted Peter Hook in 2011 to see what he recalled of Paradise and he said "What do I remember? Very little but I was an amenable chap then wasn't I? Before I got old and grumpy ha ha! What do I remember of the fanzine? It was very flattering indeed! Remember hating it when my picture wasn't on the front ha ha!".
