325 Spring Street, NY, NY, USA - the former location of Factory Records’ US operations. These internal photographs were taken in 2017 by @seanvegezzi and have languished in the factoryrecords.org vaults whilst the site was on hiatus. The upper floors of the building were completely empty. Factory was in Room 233. In September/October 1986 the video / sculpture / installation ‘Compact’ designed by Peter Saville tool place at the White Columns art gallery which was also located in the building. This was commemorated by the Fac 171 poster. This is set 1 of 3. Many thanks to Sean Vegezzi for originally taking the photos and for bearing with me whilst I got my act together. #factoryrecords #factoryus #ofny #seanvegezzi #photography #nyc #springstreetnyc #petersaville #architecture

These internal photographs were taken in 2017 by @seanvegezzi and have languished in the factoryrecords.org vaults whilst the site was on hiatus. In part 2 we see more of the interior of the upper, empty floors of the building and the roof. The actual location of Room 233 where Factory US / OFNY was located is not clear but quite possibly all the internal partitioning has long since been removed. Sadly the prospects of finding a hidden treasure trove time capsule of Facus goodies seem remote... This is set 2 of 3. Many thanks to Sean Vegezzi for photography #factoryrecords #factoryus #ofny #seanvegezzi #photography #architecture #vacantbuildings #springstreet #sohonyc

The headquarters of the North American operations of Factory Records (variously known as Factory America, Factory US and Of Factory New York) was a room in a building in New York City.

Located in Soho, 325 Spring Street was also the location of alternative art space White Columns from 1979 to 1991 which was the venue for the New Order / Peter Saville exhibition 'Compact' (FAC 171).

The address, phone and telex numbers appear on the FACTUS 19 Of Factory New York stationery.

It seems the building was subsequently occupied by UPS, a biotechnical company and a couple of restaurants but now appears to be vacant.

In 2017, photographer Sean Vegezzi took a set of pics documenting the upper floors of the building which were completely empty. The one of the building directory reveals (when zoomed in) that Of Factory New York was in Room 233. Many thanks to Sean and sorry it took so long to publish.
