Factory Records: The GAP Catalogue Numbering System

The GAP catalogue system is based on a compromise between GAP and EMI: GAP could define the prefix and EMI allocated their generic number.

SINGLES

SFA stands for SINGLE Factory Australia.

ALBUMS

Initially the prefix was to be FACTOR but was then dropped in favour of FACOZ. FACDP stands for FACtory Double Pack. There wasn't a [UK or EMI] code for a double 12" so GAP invented one. FACDM stands for FACtory Double Multiple. EMI or CBS had code systems for their pricing and the M apparently relates to a gatefold release.

TC is the EMI identifier for Tape Cassettes.
