Factory Records: FAC 20 A CERTAIN RATIO Too Young To Know, Too Wild To Care

TREATMENT
2/81

Notes: A film script written by City Fun fanzine co-editor Liz Naylor, which was to feature most of the Factory roster, but mainly A CERTAIN RATIO and THE DISTRACTIONS attempting various forms of terrorism around Manchester, kidnapping IAN CURTIS and blowing up JOY DIVISION. (Soundtrack was to be by THE DURUTTI COLUMN.)

Shareholder's statement: "The film has become a video...has become a series of surrealistic sketches. Will change again. No date No time."

LIZ NAYLOR: The film 'script' consisted of about 4 handwritten A4 pages (I didn't have a typewriter) of utter nonsense. It was one of WILSON's empowering the working classes moments when he said I should write a film script. Since I had no idea how to go about this the result was a huge sense of failure on my part. And embarrassment at my effort which was politely never mentioned agin. I got paid £200 which was the most money I had ever ever seen in my life. Wilson wasn't going to pay me anything by my guardian angel JON SAVAGE bullied Wilson into the deal in the Granada studios canteen. I was in awe. Someone told me that Len Fairclough was banned in real life for vomiting over the buffet.
