The Names

During their initial four year career, relatively little information on Belgian group The Names spread outside France and the Benelux countries. Indeed their distant appeal owed something to mystery, with many of their records selling on the strength of their association with Factory Records and producer Martin Hannett, as well as the excellent music contained in the grooves. Yet Michel Sordinia's group deserved better, for The Names traded in a brand of sophisticated post-punk pop far superior to that offered by many of their British peers.
