Review

Happy Mondays were top billed on 7th September 2007, the first day of the two days "Jelen Pivo Festival". Other artists included legendary Gary Moore and several bands and solo artists from Serbia and Croatia. Ian Brown was the main act of the 2nd day.

Venue: Belgrade, Kalemegdan Castle, Lower Town. Scheduled time for HM was: 0h-1h 30'.

The Festival was organized by Jelen Pivo, a brand of Serbian beer.

When I arrived around midnight just to see the Mondays there were approx 2000-3000 people, perhaps more, maybe the fans of blues left after Gary Moore's gig. He was scheduled for 9 PM.

Start of the Mondays' performance was powerful, Bez had his night (he was in Serbia two months ago at Exit Festival in Novi Sad, I suppose as DJ?), Shaun was static, chewing a gum, smoking, changing hats, etc, etc. but I was surprised to that he knows the lyrics by heart. Don't expect the setlist from me as I'm not a huge HM fan, but the highlights of the gig were Hallelujah and Step On when crowd went completely mad. Other songs-24 Hour Party People, Uncle Dysfunktional, I think Kinky Afro and mixed old and new material. From time to time it went down to a "festival" routine, but IMHO all in all it was a very good gig, even the night was chilly for a Belgrade summer.
